Baddest in the world
The TougeKing points out the interesting choice of a Malay chap as a terrist in a recent Royal Marines recruiting film, with some choice realistic dialogue:
If you listen carefully, he was yelling about “aku…paling jahat di dunia ini,” roughly translated as “I am the the baddest terrorist in the world etc.”
Not sure why this is at all controversial? Terrorism is a thematic, not a nation. It can come form anywhere and be represented by anyone, wouldn’t matter if they had an African, a European, an Arab or this chap. It’s just a theme…
Personally I was more amused by the evident letting of actors write their own lines, but I would imagine that the problem is that this isn’t a generic commentary on terrorism, it’s a bloody cinema advert in which the Royal Marines have made a choice of this person from that nation to portray as a terrorist just because It Made A Good Film. Seems like a good use of the defense budget, hearts and minds and all that.
Actually it is a pretty good use of the Defence budget, we’ve got a recruitment crisis happening at the moment and more leavers than returness or new entrants. Advertising, especially to wider (Big screen) audiences is just such a way to get more people in.
I’m liking the actor writing his own lines too though, “So…um..George..Just say, you know, what you feel.”
“Really?”
“Sure.”
“Ok.”

“I am slightly constipated with a mild pain in my right arm, I don’t think my mother is doing very well on hewr own and my girlfriend is ticking me off!”
