Yunnan and Me
Warning: Tea Ramblings. Twinings Yunnan tea is, to my discerning palette, by far the finest of the wide Twinings range, yet it is mysteriously unavailable at practically every supermarket everywhere.
I first discovered it’s complex yet refreshing lovelyness at the Sainsbury’s on Lewes Road in Brighton, but upon returning to the shop I found they no longer had any. Hunts round Asda at the Marina, Tesco’s in Hove and the many vendors in between proved fruitless, and I believed it a product lost to the world.
However, when Taj opened it’s doors oposite Waitrose (who don’t do it) on Western Road I was overjoyed to discover that they stocked it, and the past several months have confirmed that they will keep refilling those stocks. My theory is they have some sort of exclusivity deal that a drunken Twinings exec signed by accident.

Was the executive at the time drunk on tea? It could be that the ‘medicinal’ properties of this opium laden beverage have caused its sale to be restricted to certain outlets.
