A Pre-CSI Mystery

Not long ago I succumbed to the hanging crisis that was sweeping my wardrobe and purchased a pack of coat hanger, which neatly solved the problem. Since then, despite having no more clothes to hang, I seem to once again not have enough coat hangers. Mr Gray has suggested that they may be being eaten, and I should verify this by numbering them in a “catch and release” style program. The investigation continues.

Coat hangers are a tricky thing. The girl and I have a tiny wardrobe. We frequently double hang everything. However I rencently bought a tonne more, now we triple hang everything. How is this math possible?

All I can think is that by introducgin foreign hangers into an established gene pool of pre existing hangers we mess up the balance in the bio-sphere. One species dies and the other remains but in smaller numbers.
