Overheard In Mayfair
While at some academic level I knew Warren Zevon probably looked quite seventies, this video for Werewolves of London really hammered that point home. Don’t let it distract you though, Excitable Boy is such a deeply awesome album that every time I listen to it I am shocked at quite how much it rocks. Everything else he did is pretty much worth checking as well, including The Wind, his last album. The Wind which kicks off with a song called Keep Me In Your Heart that contains the words “crazy sun” and even “sha-la-la” lyrics, so by all rights it should suck, but is instead damn punchy.
Sometimes when you’re doing simple things around the house / Maybe you’ll think of me and smile
You know I’m tied to you like the buttons on your blouse / Keep me in your heart for a while
Of course, this was recorded while he was dying of Steve McQueen cancer. Current Mood: livespace
Still, happy song (ish) below!
