Backstory: HoCaine has discovered a bomb in a car at the lab – but he can’t disarm it in the four minutes left on the timer. “Frank, I’m going for a drive”. In the four minutes he manages to get across town, find an empty Miami beach, and have time to do this…
Probably the cheesiest of the cheese puffs and cheeseballs I’ve ever seen.
A four minute drive, park, skid, shades on and slow walk off? Additionally what was the stand off distance between th car and the lab?
The ‘bomb’ looked distinctly like a fuel bomb, with just enough explosive to take out the petrol tank, yielding little or no force other than some glass shatering and a minor heatwave. You can tell this by Horatio’s lack of pause, jump or step. Heck it doesnt even take the air from his lungs at about 15 feet when the petrol goes off!
Doesnt CSI normally get its explosive science right? Or has Miami just decided action is better than research?
From the picture of the bomb in the lab it looked like a huge wad of plastic explosive, and the lab test that tipped them off said the guy had cyclonite (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RDX) on his hands. I think we can safely say that Miami is on the side of looking cool over science every day of the week.
Oh, the car was actually in the lab incidentally, in their science garage. The bomb was targeted at some different cops who would have presumably taken the car elsewhere if it hadn’t been tangentially involved in a murder.
So it was RDX? The explosive yield (If it was prepared properly and wrapped all over the car) would have been a bit bigger. Additionally, which guy or group wanted to blow up HoCaine? Cause, its normally in poweder form meaning if these guys got it into a plastqiue they know their shit! HoCinae better watch his ass out…elsewhise they gonna blow him up!
